How Are Cosmetics Killing Us?

Cosmetics cover a myriad of items relating to our skin. The skin performs several important duties for the body.
It wraps and protects our bodies and has the remarkable ability to absorb applied products, partially or completely into the bloodstream. In fact, up to 60% of the products we use on our skin are absorbed and deposited in the circulatory system.
Every square inch of our skin is like a thousand open mouths, absorbing into the body most of what is put on it...from cosmetics!
What! That made me sit up and take notice.
This is both good and bad. Good, because it means our skin can be nourished from the outside with some wonderful ingredients in natural beauty products. Bad, because some skin care manufacturers can use harmful ingredients that would never be allowed to be taken orally, but are still absorbed into our system through our skin. Beauty Fitness Risk
These new understandings of how the skin functions reveal concerns about the possible long term effects due to the combination of chemicals used in cosmetics.

Several chemicals which are used in common, popular cosmetics are known irritants and carcinogens.

Concern stems from the knowledge that many of these ingredients are derived synthetically or from petroleum. Avoiding these substances serve to decrease overall exposure to harmful or irritating cosmetic ingredients.
Best to Use Natural Skin Care Products
There is much confusion about exactly what "cosmetics" are and some of the marketing terms used to describe them can cause problems.

I would have said that I never wore them. But guess what? I would have been as wrong as a lot of other people. The term cosmetics to most people refers to the makeup women wear.

However, according to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the term cosmetics not only refers to women's makeup but to any;

* skin-care creams,
* lotions,
* powders,
* sprays,
* perfumes,
* fingernail polishes,
* permanent waves,
* hair colors,
* deodorants
* baby products,
* bath oils,
* bubble baths,
* or mouthwashes.

Switching to all natural skin care products, natural body care products, organic and natural-make up can help you avoid feeding your skin harmful chemicals.

Using natural beauty products can contribute to healthy skin and a healthy body.
